Chihaya Kisaragi (Flourish Flowery) – THE IDOLM@STER ONE FOR ALL

First worn: Fanime Con 2015

These are such cute, happy idol costumes! I love flower themes! These are image colored, but with three shades of blue this outfit is more light blue than cobalt, which I like a lot better! These outfits were just what I’d been hoping for, new image color outfits that were generic cute idol stage outfits (because THE IDOLM@STER has a LOT of super gimmicky costumes that aren’t that great for performing in). These are fairly simple and easy to make, but they have enough flowers, frills, and bows to make them stand out.

At first no one else showed interest in these costumes, so I went ahead and bought fabric for it and was going to do it on my own. Later Angel Hearts decided these would make great performance outfits for Fanime, because they’re colorful and would be fairly easy to coordinate, so we actually had a group of eight! I’m so happy with how well everyone’s costumes turned out, and we looked so cute and colorful together!! <3 I’m so glad we were able to do a group of these, I think this is now one of my favorite IDOLM@STER costumes. I think the hardest thing about these costumes was finding matching fabric in three colors for every girl. We decided to use Jo-Ann’s Casa Satin or any similar matte satins. The pinks and reds had an easy time, but the rest of us had problems. Some girls had to use the back side of a fabric, and one girl even substituted a plain cotton for her darkest color, because she just couldn’t find anything (and for the accents actually it didn’t stand out that much). Even for blue, I had problems! My colors are actually pretty far off, but at least they look good together. It’s hard to find light blues that aren’t too green, and as usual cobalt is impossible to find and I had to use royal blue (this happens EVERY time I make a blue Chihaya costume). My royal blue was also peau de soie, which is a heavy satin, and the fabric thickness made all of those little details a nightmare. Ruffles were hard to gather, bias trim was hard to fold, and I had to remake most of the straps and bows because they came out too small. Also, trying to turn all those small pieces gave me blisters! The end result was worth it, though!
