Rainbow Dress and Shoes

It’s been a long time since I dressed up and put makeup on, but I wanted to commemorate my 40th birthday with a special outfit.Β  What better way to celebrate than with rainbows? I threw on this outfit, did my makeup, grabbed my new tripod, and took some photos, all while the kiddo napped.Β  Whew!Β

Usually I’m not into maxi dresses, but this rainbow one was too good to pass up!Β  Originally I had envisioned wearing the dress with a white cardigan, but when I opened my sweater drawer, the pink and gold sparkly shrug spoke to me.Β  I finished the look with rainbow sandals and a gold rainbow butterfly necklace.

My hair was freshly washed and unstyled, aside from blow drying my bangs the night before.Β  Just my natural waves!Β  What you can’t see here is the increasing number of gray hairs now that I’m 40…. Fortunately, my bangs do a good job of hiding the ones in the front.

I was excited to wear these shoes, even if just for a few minutes.Β  I actually bought these while I was pregnant, when my feet were super swollen and I was only wearing flip flops.Β  They were on sale, and I couldn’t resist the metallic rainbows!Β  With an open sandal style like this, I could be more confident that they would still fit after having a baby (and luckily, my feet only permanently expanded a little, and I can still wear most of my shoes).Β  Oh, but look at those poor naked toenails.Β  Pedicures have definitely been low on the priority list these days.Β  In fact, I’m pretty sure I haven’t painted my toenails since before I got pregnant.

Here’s an extra shot of the shoes, so you can appreciate them in their full rainbowy glory.

I just had to take more photos with my birthday balloons, too!Β  When I got them, it was already evening, but I wanted to get some photos with them during the day as well.Β  Colorful outfit, colorful balloons! β™₯
