2021 in Review

New Year’s Day 2021

2021 was a year of hanging in there and starting to take back my life.Β  My tiny baby grew into an active toddler in the blink of an eye.Β  Around October I started to get more sleep and was finally able to relax a bit.Β  I’m really happy I was able to start posting here again as a much needed outlet for my hobbies.Β  I have tons more to share from my backlog, which is fine because my life these days is pretty… unglamorous.Β  Lots of t-shirts and yoga pants, and a drooly kid making messes everywhere.Β  And, of course, the pandemic still rages.Β  We’re taking things one day at a time.Β

This was the first year since I started cosplaying that I made and wore zero costumes and went to zero events.Β  It’s been almost two years though, because my last event was Anime LA in January 2020.Β  It was actually good to take a break, but I’m starting to miss it.Β  I hope I can start easing back into costuming in the coming year.Β  I also dressed in Lolita fashion only once during this year, so I hope to have more opportunities for that as well.

One thing I was able to do this year was catch up on a lot of games!Β  For a few years, I didn’t really play any games besides StarCraft, Heroes of the Storm, and Fire Emblem Heroes — a familiar routine with no end.Β  I almost felt like I was losing my identity as a console gamer, my roots!Β  I felt like a different person than the one who grew up on Atari and Nintendo.Β  Then when I had my son, I started spending all my time in the family room, where there’s a TV, but not my main computer.Β  It became the perfect opportunity to catch up on some console games! …as long as those games are easily interrupted, in case my son needs me.Β Β I’ve been playing mostly on the PS4 and Switch, but in the past few weeks I’ve also been going through some of my DS games.Β Β I still play Fire Emblem Heroes just about every day, and I still love it.Β  I don’t know very many people who keep up with the game, let alone actually play it like I do (some just log in for orbs).Β  I definitely wouldn’t be able to keep up with more than one mobile game.

I guess I didn’t post at all on my cats’ Instagram this year.Β  The cats still keep their distance from the kiddo, but every once in a while they will show interest in the toys he’s playing with, or show concern when he’s crying.Β  My son giggles wildly when he sees the cats and scares them off, but he loves them.Β  I hope they become good friends some day. β™₯

I knew I wouldn’t be able to accomplish much in 2021, so I kept expectations low for the year.Β  I’m hoping to do a little more in 2022.Β  I hope everyone stays healthy and safe in the new year!
