Speaking of StarCraft, have you seen the awesome dark templar cosplay my friends and I did back in 2005???
…. Just kidding. 🙂 Since Zeratul was my favorite character in those days, I used to joke with my friends about cosplaying him. For those not familiar with StarCraft, dark templars like Zeratul are permanently cloaked units and cannot be seen without special detection, but there is a visual distortion on the map so you can tell where they are when they move. On the last day of SDCC ’05, I took a picture of the empty hallway (yes, this was a thing back then), and then I used the silhouettes of myself and my friends to distort the image. I’m the one on the left. 😉
Sadly I haven’t done any real StarCraft cosplay yet. I used to dream about making a Protoss costume (Selendis or Tassadar), but quite honestly I haven’t the time for it. There are some truly awesome Protoss costumes out there now, so I am satisfied with just admiring their work. I did see a nice human/genderbend version cosplay of Zeratul though, along with Kamui Cosplay’s amazing Protoss Wizard cosplay, and that helped inspire me to design a whole set of costumes I could make based on the different Protoss characters. Hopefully I can at least make those some day.
By the way, I like how the Protoss Wizard thing is now official, with the addition of Li-Ming’s Templar skin in Heroes of the Storm! I haven’t played Diablo (somehow), but I am 200% mage brat in every game I play, so wizard would be my class of choice. I also love playing Li-Ming in HotS, she and Tassadar are my favorites! I have to thank HotS for not only being a great game (with interesting maps and all my favorite characters, it’s the game I play the most these days), but for also introducing so many new cosplay opportunities, like Sgt. Hammer and all the Nova skins (I love Nova too). My cosplay wish list keeps growing at a pace faster than I can make costumes….
