At WonderCon a few weeks ago, my husband and I wore matching Star Wars outfits, which I made with fabric from JOANN! Years ago, my husband happened to be with me when I made a quick stop at JOANN Fabrics, and I was surprised when he wandered off on his own. He reappeared later carrying a bolt of this Star Wars fabric and asked me to make him a shirt! But poor guy, I didn’t get around to making it until just now. Two days before WonderCon, I suddenly remembered it and quickly made him his shirt. When I finished cutting it out, I saw that I had just enough fabric left for a matching skirt and hair bow for me! Yay, couple’s outfits!
We wore these on Saturday at WonderCon. I forgot about taking pictures of our outfits until we were back in our hotel room at the end of the day though, oops. At least my friend Cherry Tea Girl got a photo of us during the day! Just look at these two matchy geeks! My husband rented a motorized scooter for the con, since he still can’t walk or put full weight on his broken leg. Vroom vroom!
To complete my girly geek look, I wore a knit top, a cardigan with jewel buttons and a rose pin, a star+heart necklace, leggings, and ankle boots with buckles. As conventions just keep getting bigger and more crowded, I’ve started to enjoy wearing geek fashion and themed outfits for roaming the halls. It’s comfortable, and you can still show off both your fandom and your personal style. Here are a couple selfies of my look from WonderCon:
