Well… 2019 was a rough year. Poor health, my husband’s accident, my job disappearing, and not being able to go to many conventions or do ANY idol performances at all. However, I did manage to do a lot of organizing around the house, including sorting through all of my old costumes and organizing my workspace and materials (I have a ridiculous fabric stash). I am far from finished with organizing, but I made good progress, and was even able to sew a few projects using materials from my newly accessible stash.

My first event of the year was WonderCon, as posted previously, for which I sewed a Star Wars shirt and for my husband and a matching skirt for myself. My only anime con of the year was Anime Conji, a small con here in San Diego. I threw together a simple Cherrim gijinka, nothing fancy, and walked around the con for a few hours. Next was SDCC, which I only attended on Thursday to watch the Her Universe Fashion Show. My friend entered with a design based on Rey from Star Wars, so in honor of the occasion I used more Star Wars fabric from my stash and made myself a dress to wear to the show. My big project for the year was a Regency Era inspired Black Cat Lady, which I wore to the Labyrinth Masquerade Ball in LA. As usual, I wasn’t able to put in as much detail as I wanted, but I’m still very pleased with how it turned out. After that was Blizzcon, and I ACTUALLY FINALLY cosplayed this year! It was very last minute and completely thrown together with purchased items, but I was Big Shot Sgt. Hammer from Heroes of the Storm’s Scarlet Heist event! My last event of the year was Disneyland’s Fall Dapper Day, which was right after Blizzcon, and I made myself a dress to Disneybound as Marie from Aristocats. So in the end, I did a decent amount of sewing and dressing up this year, just no big cosplays or competitions.
I did have plenty of Lolita tea parties with my friends this past year, including tea at the Hello Kitty Grand Cafe and the Disneyland Hotel! For Disney tea, I made myself an iridescent light pink Minnie Mouse dress to match the iridescent ears I had bought in the park the previous year. The outfit was made entirely from materials in my stash! I also have plenty of new Lolita coords to share. ♥ I did receive one of my dream dresses this year, Angelic Pretty’s Cat’s Tea Party JSK! So I was super excited about that.
Aside from that, a notable accomplishment from this year is that I ACTUALLY played two video games that weren’t Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft, or Fire Emblem Heroes (I played those too, though, hah)! While I was horribly sick for three weeks in January, I finally played through and finished Zelda: Breath of the Wild! I loved it so much… I honestly didn’t do much the entire three weeks besides sit on the couch and play. I logged 350+ hours, and found every shrine! Unfortunately I’d forgotten to download the DLC, though, and I haven’t gone back to finish that yet. Oops! The other game I played this year, which I’m still currently playing, is Dragon Quest Builders II! I finished story mode, but after that is when the real fun starts: the freedom to build whatever you want on your islands! I’m still working on my first island, which I named Kikitopia. It’s so pink and flowery~ You should expect nothing less from me! 🙂
So, despite the exhausting and stressful year, I was able to exercise my creativity to some extent and still enjoy a few events. I am hoping for a much better 2020, although it may be a busy year as well! I’m going to try my best to stay healthy and active! Hopefully I’ll have time for plenty of creative projects, too.
