Here’s another embarrassing relic — Sailor Moon fan art from high school! This first one has an edit date of January 1998. Try not to laugh too hard. 🙂 The second one is from 2000.
When Sailor Moon first started airing in the US in 1995, I was 13 years old, just like Sailor Moon! The show definitely made a huge impression on me. It was on during school, so my mom would record the episodes on VHS for me to watch when I got home. I remember the day one of my friends brought a printout to school from a Sailor Moon web site, and we were so excited about finding information about Sailor Moon in Japan! More pictures, more characters, and even music (which was mostly MIDIs back then)! When I got access to the Internet myself, my favorite thing to do was look up Sailor Moon fan sites. I even found one maintained by a girl at my high school, in the same grade, who also loved Sailor Mars (small world)! We later started an anime club together at our high school. And of course, I drew lots and lots of Sailor Moon fan art. The Eternal outfits were my favorite. Even though Mars was my favorite character, and I drew her a lot, I also loved drawing Sailor Moon herself because she is so iconic, especially with her unique hairstyle.
