Yesterday I went to the Kirameki Spring Tea Party with Misako Aoki at Chado Tea Room in Torrance! For those who don’t know Misako, she is a famous Japanese Lolita fashion model and the President of the Japan Lolita Association. It was my first time seeing and meeting her, so I was really excited! The theme of the party was flowers, so I wore my new Fairy Rose Princess JSK by Angelic Pretty.
Since I live in San Diego, and it’s a long drive up to Torrance (in the LA area), I left extra early to make sure traffic wouldn’t make me late… but the traffic was good, so I ended up being the first to arrive! 🙂 I took a picture with the cute sign out in front. When it was time to be seated, I was able to choose a seat near Misako! ♥
I’d been to Chado Tea Room once before with my friends. It’s more modern and affordable than a lot of the tea houses I’ve been to, which makes it good for a big event. We were served peach-lychee blossoming tea and champagne-raspberry tea, and we each got one scone, four tea sandwhiches (which were pretty big for tea sandwiches), a mini macaron, and some cookies. I didn’t touch the desserts due to my nut allergy, but the rest of the food was allergy-friendly. It was really nice of the organizers of the event to make me a little sign indicating my allergy, even though it hasn’t been a problem for me at Chado.
After tea there was a raffle for posters, postcards, and autograph boards. Misako also brought more posters, postcards, photo books, and pins to sell. We went to a nearby park to take photos, make our purchases, and get autographs. I bought a photobook and an Instax picture with Misako and had her sign them. We were able to take selfies with Misako too! Look how tiny she is! She is so adorable! She is wearing the Princess Rapunzel Dolly OP by Baby, the Stars Shine Bright.
Huge thanks to Himitsu Events and Cherry-Jelly Productions for arranging this event, and of course to Misako for coming to visit us in LA!
