OPI Princesses Rule! My Go-To Nail Color

OPI Princesses Rule!

Nothing fancy this time, I just wanted to share my absolute favorite go-to nail color, OPI Princesses Rule!  It’s a light, super shimmery candy pink, ultra girly but subtle enough to go with a variety of looks.  It’s just a little sheer with buildable color, the perfect pink!  And with a name like that, it’s definitely a kawaii idol princess color.  A friend once messaged me while she was out getting a manicure, saying, “I found your color.”  Indeed.

This is by far the color I use the most.  If I’m going on a trip or to a convention with multiple looks planned, I usually reach for this color.  I also like to layer it to add shimmer to other pink colors. By the way, I found the Infinite Shine 2 line to be noticeably more durable than the original OPI polishes, so I stick to that when I can.

Dell once did a collaboration with OPI and offered a laptop in this color.  Matching your nails to your laptop?  Wow.  Ok, but I love this color so much, I probably would have been tempted if I had actually needed a laptop.  I had a pink Dell netbook already.  OPI really does the strangest collaborations.

Here are some other great basic princessy colors that I use a lot:

  • Throw Me a Kiss – this color is a little bit of everything.  A little pink, a little sheer, a little glittery, a little iridescent.  The overall effect is very shiny.  It looks like the Infinite Shine version has been discontinued, but the original formula is still available.  There are also press on nails in this color.
  • Pixel Dust – a very glittery pink
  • Happy Anniversary! – a super shimmery sheer, like Princesses Rule!, but in silvery white.  This one is great for layering over many different colors.
  • Up Front & Personal – this color has been discontinued, but it looks like Gemini and I is a similar color.  It’s a basically a beige version of Happy Anniversary!
  • Essie Birthday Girl – This one is similar to Princesses Rule! but has gold shimmer instead of silver.  OPI’s new Hello Kitty 50th Let’s Be Friends Forever color looks similar, but is a little less glittery.
  • Sally Hansen Disco Ball – Iridescent rainbow glitter with a sheer base.  I don’t know why it’s so hard to photograph, it’s really sparkly and colorful.

As you can see, I’m a big fan of shimmery and glittery colors.  It’s not just because I’m a sparkle princess, it also helps mask the texture of my thin, badly ridged nails.  And it’s more forgiving if you’re not the most skilled at painting your nails.

I don’t use creme colors often by themselves, but they make great base colors.  My current favorites for girly pinks are Racing For PinksMod About You (a fantastic cool pink), and It’s a Girl.
