My Favorite Morning Musume Songs – Part 1

In honor of Morning Musume’s 20th anniversary, I thought I would share some of my favorite music videos.  The songs that made Morning Musume popular were cheesy, energetic and fun, but they have some good serious songs, too. All of these videos are from Morning Musume’s official channel on YouTube.

I Wish

Such a pure-hearted, hopeful song.  This song still makes me go “awww”.  The video is cute, too!

Renai Revolution 21

Haha, did anyone ever actually think this was cool?  Because I can’t figure out if they’re trying to be cool or if it’s cheesy on purpose.  Anyway, it’s a fun song, and a Momusu classic.

The☆Peace!

This is one of my absolute favorites, and the song that really made me a fan.  Another fun light-hearted and nonsensical song.  It also features my all-time favorite member, Rika Ishikawa, as center.

Do It! Now

This song has a different feel from Momusu’s other songs from that time, more cool and serious.

Go Girl ~Koi no Victory~

Pure cuteness, energy, and positivity, without so much of the goofiness factor.  I always thought they should be wearing cheerleader outfits for this.

Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari

This song is so catchy, I played it nonstop when it came out (and drove some people crazy! haha). It’s a member introduction song, but they talk about things a lot of people can relate to.

Osaka Koi no Uta

This song is sung in the Kansai dialect.  I’m a huge sucker for songs with a mix of traditional Japanese and modern pop influences.  The outfits are also really cute, and I’m glad Rika got a good graduation song (although I wish she had been center).

Ambitious! Yashinteki de Ii Jan

I love the beat and feel of this song, as well as the dance.  It’s one of my top favorites. Those outfits though….

Kanashimi Twilight

Another cool song, for Hitomi Yoshizawa’s graduation.

The next post will be my favorite songs from Morning Musume’s Platinum Era and beyond.
