Hello again! It’s been… a while. I did not mean to take a break from posting, let alone such a long one, but here we are. I had a bunch of posts started and was in the middle of editing new photos when I suddenly became completely overwhelmed by life. Even after things settled down a bit, though, it was hard to find the time and energy to work on my site. I started a comeback post about a year ago, and then I noticed my site layout was broken and needed fixing. THEN I decided I might as well reorganize my site a bit, and then I became busy again, and… abandoned the whole thing. It’s still a work in progress.
So what have I been up to? I am currently a full-time mom to a high-energy neurodivergent toddler. When I was actively posting in the fall of 2021, my son was barely a year old, and I could work on my laptop while he played. By the time he was one and a half years old, he had completed his transformation into a toddler tornado, and I could no longer divide my attention. Things are slowly getting better now that he’s three, but he doesn’t sleep as much as the average toddler does, so I still hardly ever get a break. He’s exhausting, but such a joyful child, so despite the challenges, I am very thankful for the time I am able to spend with him.
Meanwhile, I am slowly trying to integrate self-care and hobbies back into my life. I hit some serious mommy burnout and desperately needed some time away from being a mom. I started going to conventions again and put together a few new costumes, although I still struggle to find time to sew. I have also started wearing Lolita fashion and himekaji on a regular basis again. Some of my mom friends and I have really been getting more into J-fashion lately, because it’s easier than trying to find time to sew a cosplay when you have small children. I actually bought a lot of J-fashion this year, thanks to the excellent exchange rate and the discovery of Mercari JP and J-fashion brands that ship abroad. I only wish I had more opportunities to dress up!
Even though I am still pretty busy, I am going to try to start posting here again. I will have to take it slow for a while, but I have so much I want to share, and I miss it! Looking forward to a new year and a fresh start!
