Fall Look from 2007

Here’s a fall look from December 2007.  I was just learning how to do makeup and was experimenting with some warm fall colors.  I decided to coordinate an outfit with my look and do an impromptu photo shoot.

I discovered I really like orangey-red lip colors with gold shimmer.  Eyes, however… I am drawn to coppery eyeshadows, but when I put them on, they just aren’t as flattering on me as I’d imagined.  I definitely used glitter eyeliner [affiliate link] here, because this is me we’re talking about.  I think this was also around the time I discovered bareMinerals foundation. The original bareMinerals foundation [affiliate link], which has a bit of a sheen, made my skin look amazing in person.  I got so many compliments, which is weird because I’ve always had bad skin and no one had ever complimented my complexion before.  It really made me feel better about my skin.  However, because of the sheen, the original bareMinerals foundation photographs poorly, making my face look very shiny and oily in pictures.  So while I love the original bareMinerals for everyday use, for photos I use matte foundation and matte powder for my oily skin.

Leeeeeaaaaaves~! 🙂  Boy, am I glad I don’t have to rake any leaves at my own house! (This is my parents’ yard.)

Notice the coppery highlights in my hair.  I was playing around with copper hair color spray.  No, that was never cool or in style, haha.  Cosplayers used that stuff back in the day before wigs became widely available.  I had some left over and decided to experiment with it.  That stuff will make your hair stiff and crunchy, and it also flakes off everywhere.  Definitely only for short hair!

Gosh, that skirt… there’s no way I could pull off that look now.  Back then I didn’t understand body types.  After a lot of experimenting, I learned which silhouettes are most flattering on my big hips and stocky legs, and have accepted that I just can’t wear some styles.  I don’t care what “fashion” says is in, dressing for your body type will always make you look better.
