I wrote the first draft of this post two years ago, and for some reason never published it. That also makes me realize… as this is still U-KISS’s latest Korean release, they haven’t been active in Korea for about two years. They are active in Japan, so I hardly noticed it! I hope they can have a Korean comeback soon! Even though I prefer listening to music in Japanese, it would be sad if they were forgotten in their home country.
When I was at KCON two years ago, my number one goal was to find U-KISS’s new STALKER mini album. Not only did I find it, but I got it on sale and with a free poster! STALKER quickly became one of my favorite U-KISS songs. My husband likes it too! He turns up the sound whenever “STALKER” comes on in the car. I also love the song “Heartless” from the album.
Again, I didn’t realize it, but it’d been a year and a half since their previous Korean release before that. I’m glad they had a strong comeback! Here’s the STALKER music video:
It’s not my favorite MV… mostly because it’s dark and doesn’t show the dance as well as I thought it could. So here’s one of my favorite things to watch, the dance practice video!
The dance is so cool, I love it. I was thinking, wow U-KISS looks so sharp here, and the choreography is complex, they really outdid themselves! Later in an interview, the guys said this was the hardest dance they’ve ever done, way harder than even Neverland, which was previously their most difficult routine (and is still my number one favorite).
What is it, though, with U-KISS’s Korean songs being kinda creepy? The vibe of the lyrics seems more like someone who’s in love but too shy to say anything, so stands on the sidelines watching. That makes it a little better, BUT STALKING IS NOT OK. In the last scene of the music video, Kiseop is apparently supposed to be a vampire. Ok…. angry breakup songs, overprotective boyfriends, and creepy stalker vampires… does that say something about K-pop? I prefer the “Let’s do our best!” U-KISS.
