Shortly after my husband and I were married, I was cleaning out the closets when I found this:
My husband never wears stuff like this, so I asked him what it was and why he kept it. That’s when he told me he had actually played in a few StarCraft Brood War tournaments back when he was in college! This gear is from one of the tournaments.
He’d made it as far as the round of 8, but realized that in order to keep up with the competition, he’d have to spend many more hours practicing, so he gave it up in order to focus on his studies. These days we still like to watch StarCraft tournaments online. It was a real treat to see the StarCraft II WCS Global Finals live in the Blizzcon Arena in 2016. I was sad that StarCraft got kicked out of the Blizzcon Arena in 2017, but we still enjoyed watching in the main hall. It was practically the only thing we did that weekend, and was definitely my favorite part of attending BlizzCon.
