San Diego Cat Show

Anime LA was this past weekend, but I didn’t go. However, I did go… to a cat show?  I know, I’ve been quiet for a while, and the first thing I talk about after coming back is a cat show!  Well, you know I like cats! 😉 And of course, I had to wear my Crazy Cat Lady t-shirt by TeeTurtle, along with some cat earrings and a snow leopard skirt.

The San Diego Cat Show is apparently the biggest cat show in the Western US, so I wanted to check it out.  I’ve been to large cat shows before, and sadly this one wasn’t as big as some I’ve been to, but it was still lots of fun!  When I was little, I loved reading books about all the different cat breeds, so it’s great to be able to see them in person.  I was able to introduce my husband to a lot of different cat breeds, too!

My favorite cat breed at the show was the Somali, the longhair version of the Abyssinian.  They’re such gorgeous cats, with long, silky fur combined with the unique coloring and cute little faces of the Abyssinian.  Some other favorites I saw were the Russian Blues, Birmans, and Tonkinese.  My husband and I were both disappointed in the lack of Ragdoll representation, though.  Ragdolls are his favorite.

One unique thing about the San Diego Cat Show is the large Household Pet competition, where non-pedigree cats are judged on their health, temperament, and grooming.  I wonder how my cats would do?  Probably terribly… although that Zertoo guy is pretty friendly, and Tass has such lovely fur…

Iridescent Cat Toy

I picked up a few new cat toys at the show, including this fantastic wand with iridescent tinsel. Just look at it in the sun!!  My husband said, “You just want it because it’s sparkly.”  Well… you got me there, haha.  But I was pretty sure the cats would love it as much as I do, and I was right.  I’ll have to keep a close eye on it while they’re playing, though, because it’s somewhat easy for them to tear up, and I don’t want them swallowing bits of tinsel.

Update: Well, that didn’t last long.  Less than one week, and the cats have already ripped the tinsel off the wand.  Oops!  Recommended for gentle cats only, I guess!
