Lucky Charms Cereal Treats

Lucky Charms Rainbow Cereal Treats

Is it a coincidence that my friend asked me to make these on St. Patrick’s Day?  Lucky Charms treats!  Just follow the original Rice Krispies Treats recipe, but use Lucky Charms instead!  You know I love rainbows. 😉

Lucky Charms is my husband’s favorite cereal (by the way… we don’t eat cereal for breakfast, cereal is dessert), and we love Rice Krispies Treats, so I was inspired to give this a try.  It’s actually pretty good!  I made some for my housewarming party, and my friends loved it.  So much, apparently, that they asked me to make it again!  So I was at the grocery store to pick up the ingredients, and the gentleman in front of me in line turned to me and asked, “Excuse me, are you making Rice Krispies Treats, but with Lucky Charms?”  I told him, “I sure am!” 🙂  Then he said, “Here I am with my milk, and now I’m jealous!”  And the lady with him said, “Oh, I just made Rice Krispies Treats recently! I’ll have to get some Lucky Charms and try it!”

I actually tried making treats with a number of different cereals.  Some, like Fruity Cheerios and Frosted Cheerios, turned out too sweet.  Lucky Charms was just right, and it looks so pretty, too!  Blueberry Chex and Quaker Oatmeal Squares also turned out all right.  I haven’t tried any of the chocolate cereals, since I’m not a fan of those.  I wonder what other cereals might be good?

Update: Apparently General Mills makes a whole line of cereal treat bars, including Lucky Charms, Golden Grahams, Reese’s Puffs, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch [affiliate links].  It’s not the same as making it yourself, but they’re good.
