Have you seen the anime Pretty Rhythm? I haven’t watched very much of it, but it feels to me like Aikatsu on Ice. It’s cute, but ice skating idols is a bit of a stretch for me. Maybe I should watch some more though, because Avex created some idol groups for it, and they cover some well known Avex songs. I just heard this one. The girls are super cute! But hearing this song sung by idols is just… weird. The original song was by TRF, released in 1993. It was very different from the kind of music that was popular in Japan at the time but became a big hit.
Speaking of TRF, they released a series of dance workout DVDs called EZ DO DANCERCIZE a few years back, and apparently it was really popular in Japan. I was really tempted to pick up a copy myself. Dancing to your favorite songs is certainly a great way to work out!
