So far, I’ve only managed to dress in Lolita fashion once since my son was born. This was for a friend’s birthday virtual tea party in March 2021. My son was six months old, and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to dress him in a matching outfit and get some photos together!
I wore Baby, the Stars Shine Bright’s Le Palais d’Or et de Joie ~Maidens Shine in All Brightness~ Baby Doll JSK in Pink. What a mouthful. I had gained a lot of weight in my pregnancy and was still very heavy at that time, and the baby doll style dresses were the only ones that I could squeeze into. None of my blouses fit, so I wore the dress from my Marie Disneybound as an under layer, which worked out quite well. The headband and earrings were from Sweet Rococo. Necklace from 1928 Jewelry [affiliate link]. I didn’t wear a petticoat because I don’t have any long enough to work with this dress (oops), and I didn’t bother with socks and shoes. It was a virtual tea party, and I wanted to be comfortable!
One of the big challenges with taking these photos was that my son was a little drool machine at that age. See those wet spots by my feet? Yeah.
We are ready for tea!! ….Well, I was ready for tea. The kiddo just nommed on some toys.
And some solo shots. Excuse the bare feet.
With my Gothic & Lolita Bible collection! I have the entire set, thanks to a friend who had all the old volumes I was missing. It neatly fits all on one shelf!
I love the pearl and crystal details on the front of this dress. It felt so good to wear something pretty after many months of being a tired blob. This year I’m going to try to take more time for self care and dress up more, even if we still can’t meet up with friends yet.
