Princess Zelda – The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

First worn: San Diego Comic-Con 2004

A Link to the Past is my #1 favorite Zelda game, and probably in my top 5 console games too. I thought this version of Zelda was particularly cute and loved that you actually got to lead her around for a bit and could go back to visit her whenever you wanted in the early part of the game. I always knew her for the blue dress in the instruction booklet though (which I also want to make), and didn’t see this version until much later. It finally made sense why the drawings didn’t match the in-game sprite. Speaking of the sprite, I’ve been using it as my AIM icon since forever! She is tooooo cute!

I put together a large group to enter SDCC’s masquerade. We recreated the old Japanese commercial for this game, with the dorky dance routine. I taught everyone the dance, although I didn’t get to perform it myself because Zelda is captured at the beginning of the skit! Everyone worked hard for this group and the performance went really well, but unfortunately we don’t have any videos of it! As for my costume, I spent 15 hrs straight painting the banner and nearly ruined my eyes, and never finished the armor pieces. Again, I have only one or two photos. The release of A Link Between Worlds has inspired me to want to dig this back out and finish it!
