First worn: San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival 2001
Final Fantasy IV is one of my favorite games of all time, and I’ve always had a soft spot for the twins. I liked Palom because he was younger, left-handed, spunky, and a nuker. My costume was a simple version inspired by the original sprite and the CG version from the GBA trailer for the game. There were no clear references back then, and this was long before the DS remake, so I had to make some things up. Unfortunately my mom sewed the jumper for me while I was away in college and she always forgets how tall I am, so the torso length was too short and the costume constantly choked me as I was wearing it. 🙁 I managed to wear it three times and then retired it. I love Palom, but I’m not anything remotely resembling a 5-year-old boy, so it’s ok.
