First worn: K-con 2014
When I first heard “Mr. Mr.”, I actually didn’t like it. Girls’ Generation is kind of hit or miss for me, and I thought this one was a miss. There was a lot of hype over this song though, and the dresses are really cute! When news broke that Girls’ Generation was going to be at K-con, a LOT of girls wanted to make the black dresses for this song (but like… no one did? I saw ONE at K-con, and it wasn’t anyone I knew). I kind of considered it as well. Then a friend showed me the PINK version and said she would wear it if it were pink! WELL. Since we were going to K-con together, and I happened to already have her measurements, I decided to surprise her by making these outfits for both of us to wear at K-con! We had a bit of an adventure gluing rhinestones in the hotel room, RUNNING OUT OF RHINESTONES, and then wandering around LA in search for more, but we had fun. The skirts turned out a little too short *oops* but considering how quickly I threw them together, they turned out pretty well. These outfits really are so cute! We didn’t pick girls to be – these days my philosophy for J-pop/K-pop cosplay is “cosplay the outfit, not the girl”, because let’s face it, we look nothing like them. If I had to pick though, my hair is closest to Taeyeon’s. Since “Mr. Mr.” was Girls’ Generation’s most recent song at K-con, they actually wore the black dresses there! I was so happy to see them perform in those! I heard “Mr. Mr.” so many times during K-con that by the end of the weekend the song was actually starting to grow on me. Making the outfits and watching the performances over and over for reference probably helped. Now I love this song!
