First Worn: Anime LA 2020
The inspiration for this costume came to me several years ago as I was playing The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. The thought process went something like this: With only three heroes, there’s no purple! (Yay! I hate purple!) But… what if there were a PINK LINK? ….. IT WOULD BE ZELDA! So I imagined a version of Zelda where she dressed like Link and went on adventures with him. This outfit is based on the Tri Force Heroes version of Link, which is pretty simple. I only had to make the tunic and hat, and the rest was pulled from my closet. I used the ears and earrings from my Ocarina of Time Zelda costume. I wore a fancy belt, just because (she’s a princess). Somehow I could NOT find plain brown boots, so I wore whatever I had. I also carried around a “Magical Butter Knife”, as a friend of mine likes to call Link’s comically short sword from the early Legend of Zelda days.
As an aside, I was 7 weeks pregnant at ALA2020, and look how swollen I already was! I didn’t even realize it until I saw the photos. I hardly recognized myself!
